Bill Nivison Memorial Cup 2010-2011
Lochmaben Make it Four out of Four

Lochmaben finished off their season last week by adding the Nivison Cup to their impressive hall of trophies for the season by beating Lochar 3 - 2 in what can only be described as a game of 2 halves. At half time the match seemed to be over due to a fantastic team performance by Lochmaben. After 15 minutes Gary White knocked on a perfect ball for Shayne Watson who took 1 touch before shooting past Lochar keeper McColm into the bottom corner. On the half hour, Lochmaben doubled their lead when Stephan Ramsay played a perfect 30 yard pass to Keith Houston who cooly rounded the keeper before shooting into the net. 10 mintes later Stephen Hyslop picked up a loose ball on the half way line before going on a mazy solo run beating 3 defenders on the way before shooting across McColm making it 3 - 0. Just before the break Gary White had a great shot well saved leaving a score line of 3 - 0 to Lochmaben.

At that point there seemed no chance of a comeback by Lochar but the second half Lochar changed their formation and pulled 1 back when a Mike McGauchie free kick was met by a powerful Alan Milligan header giving Lochmaben keeper Scobie no chance. McGauchie then had a dipping volley well saved but could do nothing minutes later when a Jim Brown threw ball found Darren Milligan just outside the area who controlled perfectly before curling a beauty to the top corner making it 3 - 2. Lochar dominated the last 10 minutes going very close with efforts from Alan Milligan and Dale Talaszko both  being well saved by Craig Scobie. Chairman of the league Maurice Sproat presented the cup to Lochmaben skipper Russel Paisley with the man of the match award going to Gary White who just edged out Mike McGauchie. Many thanks to Lochamben AFC for the use of their pitch at short notice.
